Built in the 19th century, Illuketia is local landmark spread over 7 acres of beautiful gardens and paddy fields. An outdoor pool, a quiet library and massage treatments are available on-site. Its well-decorated suites and houses come with free Wi-Fi and amazing views of the surrounding scenery.
Soft neutral and pastel colors are featured in all suites and houses, to give a relaxed resort feel. Air conditioning and private balconies are included. Private bathrooms have a shower or a bathtub.
Illuketia is a 10-minute drive from Galle and 3.1 mi from Unawatuna City Center. It is within 5 mi from Galle Airforce Airport, Galle Railway Station and Galle City Center. Katunayake International Airport is 93 mi away. Parking is free.
Guests can arrange day trips and bicycle rentals at the tour desk. The resort also provides laundry services and airport transfers at an extra charge.
The on-site restaurant serves both Asian and Western dishes. In-room dining is possible with room service.

+: Exceptional guesthouse in old colonial mansion. The manager is a very nice person there. The staff are great. Perfect hideout in nature with lots of various animals, birds and plants. Would highly recommend

+: Absolutely stunning and beautiful historical hotel nestled in a small village and nature of apa village. It was incredibly peaceful, green and just beautiful. The land that the hotel sits on is huge, allowing for a wonderful wander and escape into nature. I loved my morning walk around the village and back lanes, taking in the sights and sounds of nature. Sabine, the manager, was a ball of energy and had many entertaining stories to tell that kept me laughing. It rained the entire time but it was the coziest and most enjoyable place to tuck into a warm drink and bottle of wine and enjoy the serenity of the area.
-: Everything was wonderful! I only struggled with my data and wifi, and, not having a scooter or transport, it was a little time consuming and tricky to get into Galle andor Unawatuna...perhaps having a couple of scooters for rent or a tuktuk service would be a nice touch for those of us who have the wanderlust bug and can't sit still!

+: La location è unica, immersa nella giungla, con una piscina da sogno. è situata un po’ fuori dalle principali attrazioni, quindi per spostarvi è necessario il tuk tuk (basta chiedere alla struttura e ve lo prenotano). La colazione è buona ed abbondante, mentre il cibo per pranzo e cena è abbastanza buono anche se più costoso rispetto alla media.

+: everything! it was an absolute gem - if you are looking for something completely different, super peaceful, out in nature, very green, monkeys, monitor lizards, beautiful landscape, amazing pool, great staff, lovely German manager and a gorgeous little pooch called Ella!
-: as it’s remote you need a tuk to take you if you want to go to Galleunawatuna and it can be a bit tricky for the tuks to find .. I was a solo traveller and due to timing ended up staying on the property alone for 2 nights. didn’t sleep well due to my own anxiety really of being alone in the jungle (except for security guard) although Ella the dog kept me company :-) If you are solo traveller and this would worry you, check ahead to see if other guests are staying. Sabina the manager was there on my last night which was great - she is fabulous company, very funny!
