+: The hotel is just in front of the beach, the pool is an amazing addition after spending the day at the beach, the rooms are comfortable, coffee and boiler in the room, comfortable bed, the balcony was very nice, and the room cleaning was efficient and well prepared. Nice facilities outside at the beachfront to relax and enjoy the stars at night. The location is privileged, no doubt about it!

-: Staff - The staff was a bit unfriendly, hard to get a smile or a good morningevening (a bit picky here but makes a difference when you're a host). I guess some staff training will make a great (and easy) positive difference. Also, it was hard to have someone at the reception who could properly communicate and give information (perhaps a bit of language limitation?). Just as an example of staff unfriendly behavior: our speedboat was leaving very early, so we got a package with our breakfast. Before leaving at the reception I asked if I could drink a cup of coffee before departure to the harbor and the staff denied saying that breakfast was in the bag. C'mon, it is just a coffee and would make no difference for you but I left the hotel with a very bad last impression. Hope you take this as a constructive suggestion. :) Rooms and structure - The hotel looks old and needs some renovation. Some basic painting and repairs could make a good difference, particularly for a hotel that is not very cheap. Facilities - Some organization with stand-up paddles and kayaks would be very nice (it is a nice thing for guests!). No paddles were available and the staff had no idea about where to find it. Breakfast - There was some food saving, the plates were frequently empty or with nearly no food. I stayed in several hotels (7 to be precise) and Athiri's had by far the poorest breakfast.

+: The staff was very friendly and always there to help us no matter what we needed. It was a spot on location, right by the beach. So nice to eat with a table in front of the sea!

-: The pressure of the shower was not great. there was no bike renting on the hotel, and had to walk around to find a bike

+: Nous avons adoré séjourner au Athiri. Nous nous sentons chez nous. Très à l aise. Manger sur la plage face à la mer. Le ménage est impeccable. Le responsable Ali est toujours présent, prêt à nous aider et rendre notre séjour mémorable! La piscine est extra, bien chauffée. Nous pouvons laisser les portes ouvertes, nous sommes vraiment en sécurité et à l aise.

+: Excelent hôtel qui a répondu à mes attentes en terme de situation géographique , confort et prestation de plongée ( centre Padi avec excelent instructeur dans l hôtel ) l équipe est agréable et essaye toujours de rendre service . Ils sont aux petits soins .

+: Great location with the best views of the sea from your hotel room on the island. We were met from the flight to Male in the airport and escorted to the smaller plane to Maamigili airport by an Athiri Hotel representative. This was booked by the hotel a week before arrival. We arrived too late for the 90 minute speed boat option. The Athiri representative at Male airport was very helpful and got our money converted for us. He offered to help us buy a SIM card, we said no but wish we had as the WiFi isn’t great at the hotel. After the flight to Maamigili the speed boat is easy and only takes half an hour to Dhigurah. There are half a dozen good restaurants on Dhigurah. Most restaurants on the island take credit cards with 3% added, but the local grocers shops and gift shops only take local money. To get local transport to the famous long beach from Athiri you need 10$US each way for 2 persons, it’s a 45 minute walk otherwise. Athiri reception will arrange this for you and your driver will collect you at an agreed time. As a Muslim island only certain beaches allow the wearing of bikinis, the nearest bikini beach to Athiri is at least a 10 to 15 minutes walk from the hotel. Even with all the negative things as stated I would still come here again, Dhigurah is a beautiful island and the whale sharks and mantas are just magnificent to see.

-: Some rooms didn’t have net curtains so are not private on the ground floor unless you close the curtains completely, which leaves the room quite dark. The breakfast is not very good. There is very little choice and if you are the last one in for breakfast and someone else was hungry then there can sometimes be very little left. The rooms are big and not very clean and a bit tired. The bathrooms are wet rooms so you can make a bit of a mess as the water goes everywhere. The hotel bathroom water was only lukewarm throughout our stay. The beds are large, but very hard and the internet isn’t good in all rooms unless yours is close to reception. We took a full day’s excursion with the hotels dive and snorkel team. The divers in the group seemed happy, however, my husband booked to go diving but there was no equipment onboard for him. This also happened to another guest on the trip who thought he was going diving too, but no equipment was provided for him either. So we went snorkelling and were not happy with the safety procedures. We got separated from our snorkelling party group by different boat’s passengers. When they had gone we were left on our own in the water for a long time with our group leader nowhere to be seen. It took a while until we could get our boat driver to see us. The boat had no markings on it to say it was Athiri’s boat and there were over 10 other boats at the location so it was a very scary experience.

+: The only hotel on the island with the direct view on the ocean and the sound of the waves just outside the window. Close to both the bikini beach and to the main street with shops and souvenirs. A spacious and very clean room, towels changed every day. Communicative and helpful staff, the owner booked for us domestic flights and speedboats. Nice offer of trips including mantas and whale shark. Overall highly recommended!
